Onrust
Onrust is an interpretation of what Adrian Block’s little sprit-rigged yacht looked like when she was built on the shores of Manhattan in 1614, after a fire consumed the ship Tijger which had brought the Dutch from the Netherlands. This replica was launched in 2009 after being built by volunteers in upstate New York. I was able to use what I had learned of Dutch 17th Century rigging practices to help bring this vessel to life. Several years later, when she was operated as a “sunset cruise” vessel, I redesigned her heavy sprit rig and converted her into a more manageable gaff rig, again in the Dutch style.
